How many years after Pentecost did Peter visit Cornelius's house?
Seven or eight years after Pentecost, Peter visited Cornelius's house, taking six Jewish believers with him, so that the group numbered seven. The context places this event in Acts 10, with the men of the circumcision astonished that the Holy Ghost was poured out on Gentiles.
Les teaches that Peter’s visit to Cornelius’s house came about seven or eight years after Pentecost. Peter took six Jews with him; including himself that made seven, and Les points out that God’s perfect number is seven. When those seven Jews, including Peter, arrived and saw the evidence that Gentiles were being saved, they were astonished, because this had never happened before. Les stresses that people wrongly assume Gentiles were saved earlier, at John the Baptist or Pentecost, but they were not; it was all Jewish, and Gentile salvation was an astonishment. In Acts 10, verse 45, the circumcision believers who came with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Ghost was poured out on the Gentiles.
