What does Amos 9:9 mean?

Amos 9:9 means God will sift the house of Israel among all nations like corn in a sieve, yet not the least grain will fall to earth. It pictures God preserving a remnant; not one kernel He intends to keep will be lost.

Les explains that Amos 9:9 is not about Israel being lost among the nations. God will sift the house of Israel, but He is preserving a remnant. Not a kernel of what God wants to keep will be lost. This is illustrated by the net full of fishes, where not a single fish was lost; the count was 153. Likewise, when God brings the saved remnant into the nation of Israel, not one is going to be lost.

Amos 9:9

For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
