What do the signs in John's Gospel mean for Israel's near-term and long-term future?

The signs in John's Gospel were directed to the nation of Israel. In the near term, they indicated Israel's rejection and falling away from her prospects. In the long term, God will still fulfill all the sign aspects of His dealing with Israel, cleansing and forgiving her in the kingdom.

Les explains that the signs in John's Gospel, such as the healing of the blind man who washed in the pool of Siloam and came seeing, were all directed to the nation of Israel. They indicated Israel's near-term rejection and falling away from all of these prospects. Yet in the long term, God is still going to fulfill all of these sign aspects of His dealing with Israel. Les points to Zechariah 13:1, where in that day, when the Lord finally sets up His kingdom and Israel has all the promises fulfilled, a fountain will be opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and uncleanness. God will cleanse them, forgive them, and bring them into all the glory of the kingdom. But as yet, Israel is out there in spiritual blindness.
