When Paul says Christ rose from the dead, does he imply that Christ died and was buried?

Yes. When Paul states only that Christ rose from the dead, the death and burial are necessarily implied. The context treats such resurrection language as carrying the full gospel sequence: Christ died, was buried, and rose again, which is the Gospel Paul was sent to preach.

Les teaches that Paul's statements about the resurrection keep coming up, and whether he speaks of all three or simply says that Christ rose from the dead, it is implied that He died and was buried. Paul's mission was not to baptize as John the Baptist was, but to preach the Gospel: that Christ died, was buried, and rose again. The preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who perish, yet it is central because there God has His controversy with man.
