What did Jesus say would be told as a memorial of the woman who anointed Him?
Jesus said that wherever this gospel—that He was the Christ, that Jesus of Nazareth was who He claimed to be—is preached in the whole world, what this woman did would also be told as a memorial of her. This was her anointing of His body for burial.
Les explains that Jesus connected the preaching of the gospel—that He was the Christ, that Jesus of Nazareth was who He said He was—with the memorial of this woman’s deed. Her name is not given. She had poured ointment on His body for His burial, though Les is not convinced she knew why she was doing it. She is the only one of that inner circle who does not go to the tomb, so it is possible the Lord revealed something to her. Jesus said that wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what she did would also be told as a memorial of her. It is true that just about everybody in Christendom has heard of this woman who anointed the body of Christ before His death.
