What triggers the last half of the Tribulation?

The midpoint of the Tribulation triggers the last half when the Antichrist comes in, defiles the Temple, and turns on the Jews, who had enjoyed a semblance of religious freedom during the first three and a half years. This midpoint begins the period Scripture calls God's wrath and vexation.

Les explains that Revelation chapter 12 is set at the midpoint of the Tribulation. At that point the Antichrist will come in and defile the Temple, and he will turn on the Jew, who for the most part had enjoyed a semblance of religious freedom during the first three and a half years. Although the first half is not a Sunday school picnic for the world—there will be war, famine, pestilence, and turmoil—the midpoint itself triggers the last half. That last half is beyond human description, and it is what Psalms 2 refers to as the wrath and vexation of God. This also connects with Jews fleeing Jerusalem as Jesus admonished in Matthew chapter 24.
