What did Jesus say about people claiming the Messiah is in the desert or in secret chambers?

The teaching explains that when things get tough, people turn religious, so Jesus warns, “If any man say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there,” believe it not. False Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, but their power comes not from God but from the devil, from Satan, and they would deceive the very elect if possible. Jesus reminds them again for emphasis: if they say the Messiah is in the desert, go not forth; if He is in secret chambers, do not believe it. He is not coming from those areas. He will come from heaven, and at the end of the tribulation, at the Second Coming, He will come in power and glory and destroy the nations gathered in the Middle East under the Antichrist.
