How did some rabbis reconcile the two Old Testament aspects of the Messiah?

Some rabbis reconciled the two Old Testament aspects of Messiah by concluding there would be two Messiahs: one to fulfill the promise of being King and setting up the Kingdom, and another to fulfill the parallel theme of a suffering Savior.

Les explains that the Old Testament rabbis and those involved in studying the prophets understood two aspects of a coming Messiah. Some of the rabbis actually thought there would be two Messiahs: one who would fulfill the promise of being the King and setting up the Kingdom, and then the parallel thought was a suffering Savior. He notes that the word Savior is Jehoshua, and out of that name comes the name Jesus, because He shall save the people from their sin. So what some of them really thought was that there would be a Messiah to fulfill one aspect and a Messiah to fulfill the other.
