What could Israel receive if they recognized who Jesus was?
Had Israel recognized who Jesus was, they could have received the King and the Kingdom, along with salvation, redemption, and forgiveness. God had sent the Son in fulfillment of Old Testament promises, offering these blessings if they would simply recognize Him.
Les explains that Jesus used the analogy of a mother hen wanting to gather her chicks under her wings during a storm. He wanted to do the same with Israel throughout their two thousand years of history, watching over them, protecting them, and miraculously supplying their needs. But like the one little chick that would not come under the hen, Israel would not listen, and they came under judgments and adversities because of disobedience. Now God had sent the Son in fulfillment of all the Old Testament promises so that they could have the King and the Kingdom, salvation, redemption, and forgiveness if they would just recognize who He was.
