What is the real Lord's Prayer?

The real Lord's Prayer is John chapter 17, where the Lord pours out His heart to the Father on behalf of His chosen ones. The prayer commonly called the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6 is actually the disciples' prayer, given as an example for them to use.

Les teaches that Matthew 6 contains what is normally called the Lord's Prayer, but he rebels at that title because it is not the Lord's Prayer; it is the disciples' prayer. The Lord merely gives it as an example for the disciples to use. The real Lord's Prayer, Les explains, is John chapter 17, where the Lord pours out His heart to the Father on behalf of His chosen ones, of the leaven in particular. In Matthew 6, the Lord is instructing the disciples how to pray, so it should be called the disciples' prayer. The pattern in verse 9 does not mean every prayer must open with those exact words, but it indicates how we approach the throne room, even in this age of grace, recognizing God as Almighty and Heavenly Father. This is still under the Law, to the Jew under temple worship, but the format carries over into us under grace because we still give God His due. Verse 10 adds, 'thy kingdom come, but where? On earth as it is in heaven.'
