Who was the federal head of the human race and what authority did he have?
Adam was the federal head of the human race. God gave him dominion over everything He had created, meaning it was Adam's to rule and reign over. Yet Satan's one temptation caused Adam to fall, despite having all that power and ideal circumstances.
Les teaches that Adam was the federal head of the human race and was given dominion over everything God had created; it was his to rule and reign over. Yet Satan came with one little temptation, and Adam fell even though he had all that power at his disposal under beautiful circumstances. By contrast, Christ came in His earthly ministry not yet as the royal king but more as a servant—lowly, riding the foal of an ass, and washing the disciples' feet. The Jews stumbled because they expected someone like a Roman general or emperor on a white steed. Christ, the Creator and King of Israel and the whole planet, humbled Himself as the lowly servant, not as Adam with total dominion.
