Les Feldick Bible Study

What pattern does Les teach about the natural and spiritual throughout Scripture?

The consistent pattern is that the natural always comes first and the spiritual follows. Scripture illustrates this with Adam then Christ, Cain then Abel, Esau then Jacob, Saul then David, and Antichrist then Christ. Believers likewise begin as natural, and as believers they become spiritual.

Les teaches that all through Scripture the process is always first the natural and then the spiritual. He points to the first Adam as natural and Christ, the last Adam, as the spiritual. He also gives the examples of first Cain the natural and then Abel the spiritual, first Esau the natural and then Jacob the spiritual, and first King Saul the natural and David the spiritual. This pattern continues all the way up through Scripture, including the end time in the final seven years, when first comes the natural, the Antichrist, and then comes the spiritual, the Christ. In our own experience, we come into life as natural with no spiritual life, and as a believer we become spiritual. Les concludes that this is just a fact of Scripture all the way through: first the natural, and then the spiritual.

1 Corinthians 15:45

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:46

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
