Why was the return of the Lord the Haitian Christians' only hope?
The Haitian Christians' only hope was the Lord's return because they had absolutely nothing of this world's goods and would never get out of it any other way. Neither the UN nor anybody else could touch the needs of those masses of people.
Les explains that the UN or anybody else can never begin to touch the needs of these masses of people who have absolutely nothing of this world's goods. He remembered talking to the Haitian Christians and asking what their only hope was: that the Lord would come, because they'll never get out of it any other way. As he looked at those poor, benighted souls in the film clip, he said the same thing: If only the Lord would come. He contrasts that longing with America, where people have it so good they don't hanker for the Lord's return like the Apostle did, though what is up there is far better.
